Mission Statement
The mission of the Accompsett Middle School Library is to:
- provide access to a diverse collection of resources in a variety of media to meet the information needs of students and staff
- ensure that students and staff are effective users of information
- encourage and support an interest and competency in reading and an appreciation for literature.
- collaborate with other educators to create lessons that integrate information literacy skills into the curriculum assignments and projects.
- provide students with a variety of opportunities to enhance their learning and explore their passion and creativity.
About Us
The Accompsett Middle School Library has a wonderful collection of resources in all types of formats to meet the needs of our students and staff. In addition to our print and online resources, we also have a digital media lab and a makerspace. The library has student computers with Internet access, an adjoining computer lab, and two interactive whiteboards for lessons and presentations.
Students are encouraged to visit the Library Media Center throughout the day. The library provides a large variety of activities and options for students to explore their passion and their creativity. Whether they are coming to work on a project, record a newscast, or create something in our makerspace ~ students have the opportunity to use their imagination and to direct their own learning.
The library is staffed by a full-time, certified Media Specialist and one full-time secretary. The Library Media Specialist collaborates with classroom teachers in order to integrate information literacy skills into the curriculum and to foster a love of literature.
